landscape is a central theme in constable's work, his paintings aim to represent the nature at its source.
trees are a strong symbol, symbolizing nature, open air and most of all, a sense of place.
the green background plays with the inversion of the natural colours of earth/sky.

(the colours presented in this images are too bright - almost fluorescent - compared to reality. i still don't know how to avoid it in the blog. just try imagine it with none of all that light)
